LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — According to race officials, a bridge used for the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix has been dismantled hours ahead of expectation.
The bridge was used for the Formula 1 race on the Las Vegas Strip in November. According to Las Vegas Grand Prix officials, the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane has reopened Saturday ahead of the scheduled 9 p.m. deadline.
For the 2024 edition of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, F1 officials said the size of the bridge was reduced by 50 percent when compared to the structure that was erected during the inaugural race in 2023.
The bridge proved controversial in 2023, with some business owners in the area calling it “a disaster” for business. Litigation was initiated over the structure. A lawsuit from Ellis Island Casino was dismissed in September. Ferraro’s Ristorante also filed a lawsuit claiming a loss of “thousands of guests and millions of dollars” over approximately 8 months during ongoing F1-related construction.
Grand Prix officials said 306,000 people attended the annual race in Las Vegas, where George Russell claimed victory and Max Verstappen clinched his fourth Formula 1 world championship.
