LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Astronomical Society invites the public to experience a night under the stars at Mt. Charleston this Saturday, where cool temperatures await.
The astronomical society will be hosting its final stargazing event of the season at Mt. Charleston on Aug. 3. The event will provide the public with the chance to observe the night sky through telescopes and possibly catch a glimpse of shooting stars.
Ph.D. candidate Rachel Langgins from UNLV will be the guest speaker. Langgins, who has researched black holes, neutron stars, and other cosmic phenomena, will share her insights with attendees.
To prepare for the cool mountain temperatures — 20 to 30 degrees lower than in the city — guests are encouraged to wear warm layers and bring a jacket. Snacks, drinks, and a selection of retail items will be available for purchase.
The event will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. To attend, one can register in advance by visiting the Mt. Charleston website
