LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A plant recycling event of sorts took place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Tuesday, giving community members the chance to select plants and trees that were originally used at the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC).

EDC organizers and Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick have teamed up for the giveaway, which is now in its fifth year.

About $200,000 in plants and trees will be donated to the community throughout the week.

The giveaway wraps up Thursday, May 22, starting at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s maintenance building, which is north of the main speedway. Community members can select up to three plants/trees, and must be able to transport the items themselves.

Thousands of people attend EDC every year at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This year, the festivities ended on Monday.
