LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — DUI was suspected in a crash that left one with critical injuries and another with serious injuries in Las Vegas Saturday night.
The high-speed, multi-vehicle collision occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Pecos and Bonanza roads in Las Vegas on Saturday night, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD.)
The crash involved a 2019 BMW 330i, a 2014 Toyota Camry, and a 2007 Audi A4. Police said the driver of the BMW, identified as Patrick Alexander, 25, of Cleveland, Ohio, was speeding northbound on Pecos Road and ran a red light at the intersection with Bonanza Road. The BMW struck the passenger side of the Toyota Camry, which was turning left onto Pecos Road. The impact caused the BMW to collide with the rear of the Audi A4.
Alexander and a male passenger, estimated to be between 18 and 21 years old, fled the scene on foot, police said. Alexander was located and arrested shortly after the crash by police. The passenger remains outstanding. Impairment was suspected to be a factor in the crash, authorities said.
The Toyota’s driver was seriously injured, while his passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to an area hospital. Law enforcement officials described the driver of the Audi’s injuries as minor.
The crash remains under investigation by LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact that section at 702-828-3535.
