Cowabunga Bay, the Henderson waterpark that has drawn families every summer since 2014, is closing permanently, the park announced this morning.
The closure does not affect Cowabunga Canyon, the company’s waterpark in Summerlin. The park said Cowabunga Canyon will continue operating in the 2027 season.
“With heartfelt appreciation, we share that Cowabunga Bay Vegas in Henderson will be permanently closing,” the park wrote in an email to customers, thanking every guest, family and team member who had been part of its 12-year run.
In a longer letter posted on its website and signed “Your Cowabunga Family,” the park called the closure a difficult decision. “Please know this decision was not made lightly,” the letter said, though it did not say what prompted the closure.
The letter acknowledged that the news may disappoint families who had made the park part of their summer traditions, recalling children riding their first waterslide and families returning year after year.
“While our chapter in Henderson is coming to a close, our story in Las Vegas is far from over,” the letter said.
The Henderson property will be maintained and secured while ownership evaluates plans for its future, the park said.
For affected customers, the park has posted a list of frequently asked questions covering 2027 season passes, combo passes, payment plans, refunds, unused tickets and gift cards.
Asked in the FAQ whether any Cowabunga Bay attractions will move to Cowabunga Canyon, the park said it has no updates to share at this time. It directed guests to cowabungavegas.com and its social media accounts for future announcements.
