LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Nearly 100 people gathered on Saturday for a vigil honoring Henderson teen Jennaleah Hin, held near the mountain where her body was discovered.
Hin, a 17-year-old senior at Foothills High School in Henderson, was reported missing on Dec. 30. Her death was later confirmed as suicide by the Clark County coroner’s office after her body was discovered.
Friends and family gathered, placing flowers, candles, and her beloved stuffed animals at a memorial site. Although no formal speech was given during the vigil, the profound silence was stronger than words and could be felt throughout the crowd.
“I was following the search, and I grew up around here and graduated from that same high school, so it really hits close to home and to see someone so young do this is heartbreaking,” former Foothill High School student Bella Marino said.
Hin’s closest friends lives now changed forever and through this loss, they share that it’s brought some perspective.
“It’s just a lesson to be more grateful for who you surround yourself with and be more attentive to your loved ones,” Angelina Galman, a friend of Hin, said.
Red Rock Search & Rescue, who initially helped in the search for Jennaleah was also at Saturday’s vigil.
The Henderson Police report later revealed that Jennaleah’s body was discovered along with two suicide notes, one addressed to her best friend and the other to her boyfriend.
