LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Two city ordinances have passed shedding more light on animal abandonment and hoarding incidents across the Las Vegas valley.

On Wednesday, The Las Vegas City Council voted unanimously to pass two ordinances that shed more light on animal abandonment and hoarding issues and animal business and breeder accountability.

The first ordinance would limit the number of animals a pet shop or breeder can sell to one person or household in a year. Pet shops will also have to give the city quarterly reports.

The second ordinance would increase the fine for animal abandonment to $1,000.
