Like all good house parties, Angie Mar’s Lunar New Year bash in 2024 drifted into the kitchen — where guests eagerly pilfered dumplings and slices of suckling pig before they could make it onto party trays. Mar describes her annual New York party as an over-the-top food-filled and celebrity-magnet version of the home gatherings she grew up with — and they’ve evolved into the stuff of New York lore. This February, Mar will bring the party from her Le B restaurant to Las Vegas, as one of the many celebrations of the Chinese holiday.

Mar’s Lunar New Year party attracts guests like Vogue editors, Martha Stewart, and Christian Siriano. On the heels of visiting during the World’s 50 Best event in May 2024, Mar will host the party inside Delilah at the Wynn Las Vegas. New York-based DJ team the Muses will provide the soundtrack while Mar will serve a menu of roast duck bao buns and carved suckling pig. Toward the end of the night, the passed trays of bites will take the form of Mar’s Le B burger and fried chicken with caviar. “Because who doesn’t want fried chicken with their Champagne, right?” Mar says.

Mar’s party kicks off at 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 1 at Delilah and tickets are $500.

Celebrations call for ceremonial lion dances, red envelopes, and feasts — marked by the appearance of certain “lucky” foods — shared by loved ones.
