LAS VEGAS (KALS) — A young boy is hospitalized after darting into a roadway and being struck by a passing SUV, according to police.
The crash occurred on Wednesday around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of West Lake Mead Boulevard and Jeanne Drive, east of Jones Boulevard.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan police, the SUV driver was traveling west on Lake Mead when the boy, 4, was running along Jeanne and darted onto Lake Mead where he was struck.
The child was transported to University Medical Center with critical injuries, police said.
The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. The crash is under investigation.
