LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A bicyclist died after a crash involving two vehicles in west Las Vegas, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officials said.
The collision occurred just after 11:30 p.m. on Friday near the intersection of Jones and Carmen boulevards. There, police said a vehicle traveling north on Jones Boulevard changed lanes, striking a bicyclist who was also traveling north.
The impact overturned the bike and threw the bicyclist, identified only as a 62-year-old man from Las Vegas, to the ground, police said. Shortly thereafter, another vehicle struck the bicyclist.
When first responders arrived, they determined the man “beyond resuscitation.” Both drivers stayed at the scene and were found to be not impaired, according to police.
The crash is the 49th traffic-related death of the year in LVMPD jurisdiction, and remains under investigation.
