LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A student exchange program is inviting Nevada families to discover one of the greatest cultural experiences without leaving their homes.
The International Student Exchange Program (ASSE) offers families the chance to explore a new culture, learn a different language, and share their own traditions with students from over 50 countries worldwide, including France, Italy, Spain, Japan, and Australia.
Scott Gavorsky, area representative for ASSE, says it’s a rewarding opportunity with few requirements and expenses.
“One of the things for the host family is they get to live their regular lives for the most part. They don’t have to do anything; they don’t have to take them on tours and (things like that),” Gavorsky said. “The whole idea is really to introduce them to sort of everyday life, everyday American culture.”
ASSE recently launched its 2025 and 2026 exchange student applications. Currently, they have received nearly 800 applications from students who want to live and study in Nevada.
As the new academic year approaches, they’re expecting the number of applicants to exceed over 1,000.
ASSE carefully selects students based on their academic performance and personality. Host families have the opportunity to choose students from diverse backgrounds, countries, and personal interests. These families can be single parents, couples, or individuals living on their own.
ASSE also offers qualified American students the opportunity to learn another language and culture by spending a school year, semester, or summer with a host family in another country.
