LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Awoken by a noise, a Las Vegas grandmother found an alleged gunman standing in her living room asking to borrow her vehicle. An arrest report identified the man as her grandson who allegedly shot and killed a man moments prior.

On Aug. 11, Kevin Telles, 26, was seen by witnesses leaving a house party, near Sandhill and East Bonanza Roads, on foot while intoxicated. Two witnesses, who also attended the house party, saw Telles standing in the middle of East Tully Avenue and pleaded with him to get into their car so they could take him home, according to an arrest report.

As the two witnesses spoke to Telles they saw a black male, later identified by police as Samario Williams, 34, and Williams’ girlfriend walking towards them. Williams yelled at Telles, according to the report.

“Just get into the car,” Williams said.

“What happened,” Telles responded.

“You heard me, get in the car,” Williams said. “What’s up [expletive]?”

Telles walked toward Williams following the exchange on East Tully in plain view of the two other witnesses. Williams pulled out a handgun and shot Kevin four times, killing him, before running through a pedestrian gate of the nearby Spectra Apartments, police said.

The two witnesses immediately ran to Telles, attempting to render aid. 8 News Now obtained a copy of video from a nearby neighborhood which appeared to show the two witnesses pulling Telles body to a curb.

Moments later Williams and his girlfriend entered the apartment living room of his grandmother, waking her up, asking to borrow her vehicle. According to a police report, Williams’ grandmother agreed.

Hours later Williams called his grandmother and explained he had shot a man outside of her apartment, claiming Telles was armed with a knife. However, homicide detectives did not find Telles with a knife and no knives were found at the scene, according to police.

Two other individuals and Williams travelled in his grandmother’s vehicle to multiple locations following the shooting. On Aug. 15, Williams was arrested in Omaha, Nebraska.

Williams, a seven-time convicted felon, has been charged with open murder with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possession of a gun as a prohibited person, and damage of a vehicle. He has been transported to the Clark County Detention Center and is expected to appear for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 11.
