LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The alleged gunman in a shooting that left his ex-wife’s girlfriend dead and his ex-wife injured called Las Vegas police after the gunfire, law enforcement officials said.
The shooting occurred on Friday just before 4:45 p.m. In a release, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials said that investigators had determined the gunman had approached his ex-wife and her girlfriend near Sacks and Blanton drives, near east Tropicana Avenue and Nellis Boulevard, before opening fire on them.
First responders pronounced the ex-wife’s girlfriend dead at the scene, while his ex-wife was taken to an area hospital with non-threatening injuries. Neighbors who witnessed the shooting said they saw the vehicles involved and heard the shots fired in the incident, which saw traffic at the southeast Las Vegas intersection closed down for hours.
“I’m guessing it was the husband who we saw walking around who had already shot the ex-wife and the second passenger,” said Juliana Melendez, who witnessed the incident. “Five minutes later, the neighborhood was full of police cars and ambulances.
On Saturday morning, the man was identified in court records as Adrian Rodriguez-Guillen, 41. LVMPD officials would confirm his identity later in the evening, also adding that Rodriguez-Guillen was the one who called police dispatchers about the shooting and had remained at the scene after the shooting.
Rodriguez-Guillen appeared in court on Saturday. He faces several charges, including open murder and attempted murder, and is being held without bail. He is due again in court on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
