LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Crash investigators found alcohol containers and marijuana packages in and around the car of a driver who killed a Las Vegas Metro police officer in a wrong-way crash last week.
Fernando Jimenez, 31, died when he collided with LVMPD Officer Colton Pulsipher, 29, on Interstate 15 on Dec. 12. Jimenez was driving a truck the wrong way in the northbound lanes near the Valley of Fire.
Pulsipher, a husband and father of three, was off-duty and headed home at the time, police said. His family and friends laid him to rest Wednesday.
A driver in a secondary crash was substantially injured.
Police located “several containers of alcohol and marijuana packages in and around,” Jimenez’s vehicle, they said Thursday. Toxicology results were pending.
Troopers urged everyone not to drink and drive and to plan this holiday season.
