LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Boulder City Police provided an update Wednesday on a 10-week-old puppy found abused and beaten.
Authorities said the Rottweiler mix, now called Seven, is fighting to survive at Boulder City Animal Hospital.
“There is no reason to hurt an animal like this,” Boulder City Police Detective Sergeant Tiffany Driscoll said.
The dog is bravely beating the odds after unthinkable abuse and the ultimate fight to survive.
Seven was reportedly discovered in someone’s backyard near an alley in Boulder City Monday morning, barely clinging to life.
“Facial injuries, a dislocated jaw,” Detective Sergeant Driscoll described his injuries. “Missing teeth and an eye injury as well.”
Seven has had two surgeries so far, including one to remove his eye, but those caring for him said he is expected to make a full recovery.

Therefore, Detective Sergeant Driscoll said the department is now focusing on finding the person who did this.
“Any time we take a case like this, with an innocent animal severely injured like that,” she said. “It tugs at anyone’s heartstrings.”
Multiple charges are potentially on the table, including felony maiming and felony animal abuse.
“Nobody should ever treat an animal this way,” Detective Sergeant Driscoll said. “There are lots of things you can do for an animal in need of care.”
Authorities are asking someone to come forward so they can find justice for an animal that never deserved this kind of pain.
