Singer and songwriter Paul Anka is scheduled to perform May 16 at the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms, officials said this morning in a news release.

Anka, 84, first gained international attention at age 15 with his No. 1 hit “Diana,” which launched a career that has spanned more than seven decades.

As a songwriter, he penned “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore” for Buddy Holly, composed the Academy Award-nominated theme for “The Longest Day” and wrote the theme for the “Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.” In the late 1960s, he wrote “My Way,” which became the legendary Frank Sinatra’s signature song.

Anka had continued chart success in the 1970s and beyond with songs including “(You’re) Having My Baby,” “Times of Your Life” and “Don’t Like to Sleep Alone.” His album “Duets” made Billboard history by placing him on the Top 100 chart for seven consecutive decades.

The performer has collaborated with artists including Michael Jackson, Céline Dion, Tom Jones, Drake, Justin Timberlake and Michael Bublé.

His co-written songs with Jackson include “This Is It,” “Love Never Felt So Good” and “Don’t Matter to Me,” all of which reached No. 1 worldwide.

Anka is also a New York Times bestselling author of “My Way” and continues to perform and record.
