LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Universal has teased another haunted house attraction that will debut in August at the company’s new year-round horror destination in Las Vegas.
“Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer” is the latest of four haunted house experiences being produced for the Universal Horror Unleashed attraction set to open on Aug. 14 at AREA15 in Las Vegas. The experience begins with an earthquake and tracks the path of characters Katherine and Angela through various settings, culminating in a chaotic supernatural climax.
“[The] haunted house… leads all the way up to a dynamic moment where you actually get to experience the exorcism of both of these girls,” said Nate Stevenson, director at Universal Horror Unleashed.
Stevenson detailed one special effect that enhances the personalized, linear retelling of the film.
“We actually make a wall disappear, and behind it, you see this hellscape,” Stevenson said.
Additionally, the attraction includes a Prop Graveyard where objects like dolls and dismembered mannequins provide an unsettling scene for visitors. The Premiere House is a themed tapas bar offering cocktails and appetizers.
“For us to give our guests this opportunity to have a personalized [experience]… makes this a unique offering,” said TJ Mannarino, vice president of entertainment art and design.
Haunted houses themed around Universal Monsters, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Scarecrow: The Reaping round out the offerings. Tickets for the attraction, which opens on August 14, are on sale at Area 15. Prices range from $69 to $149, depending on the dates.
