LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — “Leatherface” will terrorize guests of a new Las Vegas horror attraction when it opens in August.
The iconic horror villain from 1974’s “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” will feature in one of the four haunted houses set to launch in August at Las Vegas’ Universal Horror Unleashed attraction.
“In the Texas Chainsaw Massacre house, we’re going all the way back to the original film in the 70s,” Nate Stevenson, show director for Universal Horror Unleashed, said.
Universal announced details Tuesday about the experience, which Stevenson said would follow the original film “beat-for-beat” in a linear fashion.
“The film is brutal itself, so we absolutely wanted to match that intensity,” said Stephen Morrison, design manager for Universal. “You are actually going to be pursued by Leatherface in this house.”
The “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” haunted house re-enacts the film’s scenes, starting in a Texan cemetery, moving to a dusty gas station, and finally to the dilapidated home that hosts the finale. The creative minds behind Universal Horror Unleashed said it is unique in the field of immersive experiences.
“From the moment you walk in, you will be transported outside of your reality into the world of universal horror,” said Sean Chung, show producer for Universal.
Universal previously detailed another experience set around the Dust Bowl era. Four haunted houses will make up the Universal Horror Unleashed experience. “Scarecrow: The Reaping” and “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” will be joined by “Universal Monsters” and “The Exorcist: Believer” experiences.
Tickets for the attraction, which opens on August 14, are on sale at Area 15. Prices range from $69 to $149, depending on the dates.
