LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A federal judge ruled that the WNBA and some of the allegations of mistreatment made by former Las Vegas Aces player Dearica Hamby be dropped from her lawsuit against her former team.
Hamby filed a lawsuit in 2024 claiming discrimination and retaliation following her pregnancy. The allegations dropped included Hamby’s claim that the team directed players and staff to cease communications with her and that the Aces attempted to get her medical records.
According to the federal judge, the lawsuit can continue with the allegations that the team did not extend an invitation to the White House visit, and the Aces prohibited videography staff from displaying Hamby’s daughter on the Aces’ stadium screen.
The judge also dropped the WNBA from the complaint. Hamby alleged it failed to investigate her complaints against the Aces.
Hamby can proceed with her lawsuit against the Aces.
