LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — College rodeo athletes are saddling up in Las Vegas to show their skills and compete for prizes.

The West Coast Regional Finals Collegiate Rodeo includes athletes from UNLV, Cal Poly, Fresno State, and other colleges to compete in classic rodeo events such as bull riding, barrel racing, and roping.

Coach Ric Griffith, who has been leading the UNLV Rodeo Team since it was founded in 1991, said the team has produced multiple world champions over the years. He said they’re hoping to add another accomplishment to the list by winning the West Coast Region and punching their ticket to the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming, this summer.

Whether you’re a lifelong rodeo fan or just looking for a fun family night out, the West Coast Regional Finals Collegiate Rodeo promises non-stop excitement. The action beginsFriday, May 2, at 7 p.m. inside the South Point Arena.
