A man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of his neighbor Saturday night in a Las Vegas apartment complex near the Strip, Metro Police said this afternoon.

The shooting occurred around 9:05 p.m. in the 200 block of West Chicago Avenue, near Industrial Road and Wyoming Avenue, officials said. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds in the courtyard of the complex.

Medical personnel transported the victim to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Alexander Ayres, 47, was booked him into the Clark County Detention Center on open murder charges. Investigators determined the victim had exited his apartment when Ayres allegedly shot him.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity.
