LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man is accused of shooting and killing his neighbor near the Las Vegas Strip Saturday night, according to Metro police.

Around 9:05 p.m., Metro police responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of West Chicago Avenue near Industrial Road and Wyoming Avenue.

When officers arrived they found a man in a courtyard area suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Detectives identified 47-year-old Alexander Ayres as the suspected shooter and learned that the victim left his apartment and shortly after was shot by Ayres, police said.

Ayres was arrested on charges of open murder with a deadly weapon as well as other felony charges and taken to the Clark County Detention Center.

Ayres is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, records showed.
