LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The FBI’s Las Vegas office has a new acting boss in the wake of a shakeup ordered by the Trump administration.
Asst. Special Agent in Charge Jeremy Schwartz was leading the bureau’s Southern Nevada office until further notice, a spokesperson confirmed Friday. The move comes after new leadership at the U.S. Department of Justice asked senior leaders at the FBI, including Special Agent in Charge Spencer Evans, to resign or be fired.
Evans’ name and photo remained on the office’s website as of Friday. Evans, a decades-long FBI veteran, joined the office as its leader in 2022. His role and employment status as of Friday was not immediately clear.
Former FBI director Christopher Wray resigned before Trump’s inauguration. Trump appointed Wray in 2017.
Evans most recently appeared publicly while discussing the investigation into the car bombing outside the Trump International Hotel on New Year’s Day.
