LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Crowds gathered in Henderson on Saturday to kick off Black History Month at Gospel Fest.
It was the 23rd annual Gospel Fest, and the celebration is still going strong. Ken Young has been a part of Gospel Fest since it first started, having countless memories of years past.
“It feels great, it feels like we’re doing something, that’s right in a time that people are so unsure about so many things, here’s an opportunity to come in and just lose yourself in the music, lose yourself in the worship,” Young said.
Gospel Fest, featured artists and preachers known on the local and national level, all sharing uplifting messages. The festival also showcased small business owners.
“Authentic vendors, authentic soul food? You can’t lose with that,” Young said.
One of those authentic vendors was Sheneka Gunn, owner of clothing retailer 1Qtee Boutique, who was thrilled to showcase the work she and other entrepreneurs put into their businesses.
“Entrepreneurs are always open to so many different things we wear different hats,” Gunn said. “We’re the buyer, we’re the steamer, we’re the seller, and we never know who’s looking at this, and I’m just thankful that I have a chance to show the world my wonderful pieces as a fashion designer and as a stylist.”
“What a wonderful day to kick off Black History Month,” Gunn added.
