LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Hundreds of Fontainebleau workers voted to ratify their new union contract, the Culinary Union announced Monday night.
The contract was ratified by a 99.6% vote in favor of the contract. The resort had a neutrality agreement with the union before it opened in December 2023 which gave workers the right to decide whether to join the union.
The union said it was the best contract ever that meets Las Vegas Strip standards.
The Culinary Union posted to X welcoming the Fontainebleau workers to the union family.
“It’s finally happened. It’s a long time coming,” housekeeper Zachara Lewis said in a video posted by the Union. “Housekeeping is a hard department and it’s very hard on our bodies so it’s glad that we are able to get paid what we deserve. The pay matches the work.”
This vote comes as Culinary Union workers at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas continue to strike over a new contract. As of Monday, they have been on strike for 46 days– the union’s longest strike in more than two decades.
