LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas shoppers were out in full force across Downtown Summerlin as many look to take advantage of Black Friday deals during what’s set to be a record-breaking holiday season.
Shoppers shared their Black Friday hauls with 8 News Now, as dozens flocked to Downtown Summerlin Friday to score the best deals.
“I think we’re going to walk around,” Lizette Felix said. “And do some shopping probably.”
It’s one of many locations packed this holiday season as Southern Nevadans attempt to score the best prices.
Downtown Summerlin Senior Director of Marketing Halee Harczynski told 8 News Now her team was thrilled with this year’s turnout.
“Just looking around at the crowds,” Harczynski said. “I think this is one of the busiest Black Fridays I’ve seen in a long time.”
Retail Association of Nevada predicts Nevada will break shopping records this holiday season, with $6.4 billion in sales expected. That is a three percent increase from 2023.
“Bath and Body Works behind us has a line out the door,” Harczynski said, observing Friday’s crowds. “Sephora always does great, Lululemon had a line at 5 a.m., everybody just is coming out and shopping.”
On average, Americans are each expected to spend about $900 on holiday gifts, according to the National Retail Federation. Online shopping is also consistent, with 57% expected to purchase from home. These are all welcome trends that spell success for retailers and serious fun for those on the hunt for the perfect present.
For anyone who missed the deals offered in Downtown Summerlin Friday, sales are expected to last through the weekend to accommodate Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.
