LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Isela Turner recalled the night her life changed forever, when her son, 17-year-old son Khairy Turner was shot and killed last year after attending a friend’s Halloween party in the northwest Las Vegas valley.

The suspected shooter, 20-year-old, Amari Warren, faces several charges including open murder, discharging a gun into an occupied structure, and assault with a deadly weapon.

“My son went to a Halloween party and never came back,” Isela Turner said.

“These kids have no idea what they are doing to other families,” family friend, Joshua Rosenthal shared with 8 News Now.

Loved ones all gathered Sunday evening at Madeira Canyon Park where Turner spent most of his childhood days. Turner’s mom shared what type of individual he was.

“He was a very happy person so when we get together like this, it’s a way for us to remember how happy he was and all the things he use to like to do,” she said.

Others he grew up with, sharing the impact his passing has had on their lives moving forward.

“I couldn’t believe it at first and I had a hard time being at school as it was the only thing on my mind,” longtime friend, Jaden Torres-Leon shared.

Turner would have been 18 years old this past May and graduated from Liberty High School.
