LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A fire at a church in the North Las Vegas valley remains under investigation and has been deemed suspicious, according to the fire department.

It happened on Thursday, shortly before 2:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Yale Street near Lake Mead Boulevard.

When fire crews arrived, they saw light smoke coming from the gable vents of the church building. Firefighters then entered the building and found the fire burning in an exterior wall. Crews were able to contain the fire to the exterior wall and there was no extension into the building’s interior or attic space.

There were no injuries to those inside the building or to firefighters.

As is typical for a church fire, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) assisted the North Las Vegas Fire and Police departments in the investigation.
