LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Several preparations for the 2024 Formula One race in Las Vegas will begin in the coming days. Crews will start working on track lighting, barriers, and other projects to gear up for F1 race weekend which will begin on November 21. Lane restrictions will begin Sunday on both Koval Lane and Sands Avenue.
Most of the road work will take place overnight and an interactive website will also serve as the main hub for roadwork updates.
Additionally, weekly text updates are sent every Sunday and Wednesday in preparation for the 2024 race. Residents are encouraged to opt-in by texting F1LV to 31996. Both English and Spanish options are available.
Track Lighting
- Nightly two-lane reductions on Koval Lane between Westchester Drive and Rochelle Avenue continue Sunday – Friday through October 3 from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. One lane in each direction will be open.
- Nightly two-lane reductions on Sands Avenue between Las Vegas Boulevard and Manhattan Street will occur Sunday – Friday through October 18 from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. One lane in each direction will always be open. One northbound left turn lane and one westbound lane will be closed at Koval Lane and Sands Avenue. Sands Avenue and Koval Lane, Sands Avenue, and Palazzo Garage / Wynn South, and Sands Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard.
- Nightly two-lane reductions on Las Vegas Boulevard from Spring Mountain Road to Harmon Avenue will occur Monday through Friday, October 7 – November 1 from 12:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. One lane in each direction will be open. Various left turn lanes will be impacted along Las Vegas Boulevard with signal modifications at Las Vegas Boulevard and Sands Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road.
- Nightly single-lane closures will occur from September 30 to November 15 at various locations for track lighting testing and commissioning.
Track Barriers
- Nightly two-lane reductions on Harmon Avenue between Las Vegas Boulevard and Koval Lane will occur Sunday – Friday – through October 4 from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. One lane will be open in each direction. During the daytime, Harmon Avenue will be restricted to two through travel lanes in each direction, the restriction of left turn movements at Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue, and the closure of various property access drives along Harmon Avenue. Lane restrictions will occur at the intersection of Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane due to barrier installation. The intersection of Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane will be restricted to one shared through/right lane northbound, one shared through/right lane southbound, two through lanes eastbound with shared left and right turns, and two through lanes westbound with shared left and right turns.
Audrie Vehicular Bridge
- Audrie Street north of Harmon Avenue will close overnight through October 3 from 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
- Left turns eliminated on Harmon Avenue at Audrie Street through October 4 at all hours. The southbound approach is a right turn only while the westbound approach has one lane open as a dedicated right turn lane and the eastbound approach has one through lane and a shared through right turn lane.
- Audrie Street between Harmon Avenue and the Planet Hollywood / Elara Service entrance will close overnight from September 30 to October 3 from 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. All left turn movements at the intersection of Harmon Avenue and Audrie Street will be eliminated. The southbound approach will be a right turn only, the westbound approach will have one through lane and a dedicated right turn lane, and the eastbound approach will have one through lane and a shared through right. Audrie Street between Harmon Avenue and the Carriage House access drive will be one-way southbound only. Harmon eastbound and westbound through traffic will be open during the daytime.
Bellagio Fountian Club
- The installation of the Bellagio Fountain Club continues with two southbound lane closures on Las Vegas Boulevard from Flamingo Road to Bellagio Drive. Entrance and egress of the Bellagio Las Vegas Hotel and Casino will remain open throughout the duration of the construction with periodic lane shifts expected.
- The sidewalk between Flamingo Road and Bellagio Drive will remain closed to pedestrians through November 22. Guests can use nearby pedestrian bridges and sidewalks on the other side of Las Vegas Boulevard as detours.
