LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – Following up on the emergency lane closure on Flamingo east of The Strip.
At the end of last month the Nevada Dept of Transportation said manhole replacement work on the eastbound lanes between University Center and Eastern would wrap up last Thursday.
Viewer Jill emailed me yesterday:
“I saw the report that said the work would be done last week – but it’s still there.”
Well, Jill, this video from the Regional TrasportationCommission camera at Flamingo and Maryland Pkwy yesterday afternoon shows you’re right.
The slowdown squeeze is still there, too.
NDOT’s Kelsey McFarland says that while the manhole work should’ve been done, it looks like there’s a separate fiber optics project in the same area that’s also got a lane taken away.
That work is scheduled to wrap up next Friday but other lane restrictions from other projects may linger into October.
Jill, thanks for writing. We’ll keep you posted.
Buckle up, drive carefully – and, please put down that phone!
