LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Friends and family came together Monday to honor the woman who was shot and killed at a Las Vegas car rental business over the weekend.

While the coroner’s office has yet to confirm the identity of the victim from Saturday’s deadly shooting at the Avis rental car store, family and friends of 36-year-old Gina Martin confirm that she lost her life that day.

Many of them came together on what would have been Martin’s 37th birthday, to honor her in a candlelight vigil.

Martin was killed after her ex-fiancé allegedly shot both her and a friend in the back alley of the Avis rental care store near  Sahara and Decatur. Martin, who lives in Denver, was here visiting for her birthday.

Her father was devastated and in disbelief that his only daughter was allegedly taken by someone she used to be close to.

“I feel hurt. I feel let down by the individual who did this and I have a lot of resentment in my heart right now,” Johnny Martin Jr. shared with 8 News Now.

Martin’s brother Sean, told 8 News Now that her ex-fiancé just couldn’t let the relationship go. He also stated that in no way did he ever think it would escalate to murder.

“The person who did this, came to my house before he killed my sister. He then killed my sister 30 minutes later,” Sean Martin shared. “He is somebody that I knew, someone that I worked with before.”

The family shared that they are planning a ceremony to honor Martin in Denver this upcoming weekend.

According to Martin’s family, the other victim she was with was in a medically induced coma fighting for his life.
