LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Neighbors in a North Las Vegas neighborhood were awoken by gunfire Sunday after a house party ended in a deadly shooting.
On Aug. 4, around 12:30 a.m., authorities responded to a report of a shooting at a party on the 3600 block of Coran Lane, near Rancho Drive and West Lake Mead Boulevard.
When police arrived, they found two men in their 20s and a 16-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to a local hospital where one man was pronounced dead.
“Once in a while on the weekends there will be loud music playing and people arguing like there was at the party last night,” a neighbor said.
The other man’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening, police said. The teen was in critical condition Sunday morning, according to police.
“I heard arguing and then I looked out the window and saw people running like ducking behind the trunk of a car,” a neighbor shared with 8 News Now. “It was four or five guys, and I don’t know what they were grabbing in the trunk, but then I heard five or six gunshots after that.”
Stephanie, who lives around the corner, said the shooting is just one of many scenarios she’s seen that makes her want to move.
“I just can’t live over here anymore,” Stephanie said. “They are building these beautiful homes over here and these people pay a lot of money, to what, live in this madness? It’s ridiculous.”
No arrests have been made at this time however, NVLPD believes it was an isolated incident.
Even so, residents said the need for more patrolling is a given as there always seem to be problems arising.
“I just wish that the police would respect us enough to come over here and protect us as they are supposed to do,” Stephanie said.
