LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Four special members of the 8 News Now team were inducted into the 8 News Now Hall of Fame Thursday.

It’s the highest honor any current or former KLAS-TV employee can receive and those recognized are a true example of excellent performance and decades-long service.

“We have a terrific team here,” KLAS General Manager Jay Howell said at the start of the ceremony. “And I am very proud of the work we do.”

Several extraordinary members of the 8 News Now team, both past and present, were honored Thursday.

New Hall of Fame inductee Sherry Swensk has been bringing Las Vegas the morning weather since 1994; she’s now known as a true pillar of the community.

“I am so grateful beyond belief,” Swensk said during the ceremony. “You will never know how grateful I am for my job.”

Her service and immeasurable impact continue to be recognized.

KLAS News Production Manager Eric Aegeter was also inducted after decades of dedication to 8 News Now.

Those who work beside him shared what he means to them Thursday evening.

“Ask anyone in the production department how they feel about Eric and you’ll get the same response,” KLAS Newscast Director Victoria Quiroz said. “He is one of the best bosses you could ever have.”

KLAS Engineer Dale Sears was also inducted into the Hall of Fame, highlighted as an excellent employee of 30 years.

Sears is known as the ultimate problem solver and one of the reasons 8 News Now runs smoothly every day.

“Hopefully I have just done enough to help communication,” Sears said when accepting his award. “And breaking down the departments and all that and getting everybody on the same page.”

Former KLAS Sales Executive Linda Bonnici was also inducted for her leadership at KLAS over the years. During her tenure, she was known as an amazing mentor who could open any door.

“This was always something walking by the wall I would say, ‘someday I am going to be in the hall of fame,'” Bonnici said during Thursday’s ceremony. “And today is the day, so thank you all so much.”

All four names added to the legacy of those who have made 8 News Now a true success.

Thursday’s 8 News Now Hall of Fame inductees join 50 other members. It started in 1992 with the very first inductee, former KLAS News Director Bob Stodahl.
