LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A 62-year-old man has died after an E-bike crash in the northwest Las Vegas valley.
The crash happened on Friday shortly after 2 p.m. at the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Elkhorn Road.
Las Vegas Metro police said video of the collision indicated that a male was riding his E-Bicycle,
northbound on Jones Boulevard, north of the intersection with Elkhorn Road, in a designated and marked bicycle lane.
According to police, a 49-year-old man was driving an unregistered black 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe northbound on Jones Boulevard, north of the intersection with Elkhorn. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Chevrolet failed to remain in a marked travel lane, drifting to the right and occupying the bicycle lane south of the bicyclist. A collision occurred when the driver of the Chevrolet overrode the bicyclist, and knocked him to the ground, police said.
The bicyclist was taken to a hospital where despite all life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and displayed signs of impairment, according to police. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for the applicable charges, police stated in a release late Friday night.
The cyclist death marks the 29th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2025 and remains under investigation.
