LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Las Vegas Metro police are searching for a suspect after a 19-year-old man was shot and killed at an apartment complex in the east valley.
Officers received reports of a shooting on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the Cotton Creek apartment complex near the 3100 block of East Desert Inn Road near McLeod Drive.
When police arrived a woman told officers that her son had been shot while he was on the apartment’s front porch on the second floor. Prior to the shooting, the man had been having a brief conversation with another person at which point a gunshot was heard, police said.
The man who had been shot then ran to the apartment where he lived with his mother and sister and told them that he had been shot. He was later taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police told 8 News Now.
After the shooting, witnesses said the suspect fled over a wall nearby, according to police.
As of Thursday, police did not have a description of the male suspect but did tell 8 News Now the shooting did not appear to be random. Police also stated that they did not have a motive.
