LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — People will gather at various events on Tuesday to remember those who lost their lives seven years ago at a mass shooting during a Las Vegas music festival.
Sunrise Remembrance Ceremony
There will be a 1 October Sunrise Remembrance ceremony at the Clark County Amphitheater at 7:30 a.m. where the public is invited to gather. There will be live music from the country ensemble Thrillbilly Deluxe, the Southern Nevada Multiagency Honor Guard, and a minute of silence for those lost at the Oct. 1, 2017 shooting.
Among those attending will be family members of some of the 58 victims who lost their lives that night. Two other people passed away from their injuries years later. Hundreds suffered injuries in the shooting.
Remembering 1 October Exhibit
Following the sunrise ceremony, people will be invited to visit the Rotunda Gallery inside the Clark County Government Center on the first floor where a “Remembering 1 October” exhibit is held. It features a large collection items, such as artwork, banners, cowboy hats, letters, and mementos that the city received following the shooting tragedy. The exhibit will be on display until Oct. 10.
Vegas Golden Knights Blood Drive
Following the shooting, blood donations soared as people rushed to help the victims. In some cases, the lines of donors stretched for blocks in Las Vegas.
